Exclusive: The anti-poverty campaigners have also called on the First Minister to support an end to the council tax and impose higher penalties on polluters.

Over fifty groups have urged Humza Yousaf to stick with plans for a higher income tax for the wealthy to fund public services.

Yousaf has signalled support for a new income tax rate of 44p on earnings between £75,000 and £125,140.
