Research commissioned by the university revealed how many of its colleges benefited from investments in companies which were involved in slavery
Professor Stephen Toope, Cambridge’s vice-chancellor, commissioned the landmark research in 2019 through the Legacies of Enslavement Advisory Group. Professor Toope added that it wasn’t the university’s “gift to right historic wrongs,” but that they could begin change by “acknowledging them”.
