Chevrolet failed pre-race inspection three times on Friday with an issue with the right-front fender area of the car showing up in the body scan.With the three-time failure, Byron will not be allowed to qualify on Saturday and will have to start Sunday’s race from the rear of the field. He will be allowed to participate in Saturday’s practice.
The 25-year-old native of Charlotte, N.C., has eight top-five and 11 top-10 finishes – both are tied for the third-most in the series.
