If any deal highlights the creativity laced through negotiations now, it is USMNT midfielder Malik Tillman. He joined Rangers on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich last summer, with the Scottish club negotiating an option to buy him permanently for £5.5m. For a clause to be worth the paper it is written on, the player still has to agree to join the club, but Rangers had already got Tillman to sign the contract detailing he would be a permanent player.
