Police have closed a section of the road off and there are queues of cars on the road
A busy stretch of the A52 in and out of Nottingham has been closed due to flooding. The eastbound carriageway of the A52 Brian Clough Way is shut from B6003 Toton Lane for the Bardills Island to the A6007 Ilkeston Road for the Bramcote Island.
Some trentbarton buses are diverting - including the red arrow service which travels between Nottingham and Derby. "We are seeing delays of up to 20 minutes," bus operator officials said. "No stops are missed." Traffic has been heavy throughout the morning - October 20 - as heavy rain continues to fall in the wake of Storm Babet. A yellow weather warning for rain is in place until 6am on Saturday, October 21. While an escalated amber weather warning for rain has been issued, from 12pm on Friday, October 20, until 6am on Saturday, October 21.
The weather is also affecting a number of other roads. The A52 is closed at the Nottingham Knight island towards the A52 Clifton Boulevard. Almost a month's worth of rain is expected to fall in Nottinghamshire on Friday and a number of flood warnings and alerts are in place.
