The disruption to flights could last for days

A mum stranded in Tenerife said she 'cried all day' while another had to tell her 'inconsolable' daughter that their holiday had been cancelled after a fault with the UK's air traffic control system.

Tash said she has had barely any help from easyJet, or from On The Beach who she booked her package holiday with. "There's just been a lack of communication", she said. "I am self-employed and have clients booked in for this week so I will also lose money from that. Apparently there's about 1,000 people in the airport, people can't afford to pay to rebook and they've bumped the prices up with all of this going on.'I had to sleep in the airport alone' Kardy Scott is currently stuck in Copenhagen after having two flights back to Manchester cancelled.

"I burst into tears as it said it was cancelled. I didn't know what my options were as everyone was in the same situation and flights had all been booked up until Friday." She said her 10-year-old daughter was left 'inconsolable' after they had to tell her she wouldn't be going on holiday, as the travel company they booked with said the package had been cancelled completely and a refund would be issued. Sarah said: "We were sat in the departure lounge with boards stating 'relax', then an announcement was made for final call.

"We were trying to console our daughter who continues to be devastated after our travel agent called us later in the evening to inform us our entire package holiday had now been cancelled by easyJet and a refund will be processed." A statement posted by Manchester Airport this morning said: "Following yesterday's nationwide technical issue that affected air traffic control, there continues to be some delays and cancellations. Please check the status of your flight with your airline before travelling to the airport.
