Murat Arpapay had moved to Türkiye after falling in love with a 19-year-old woman and hoped to start a new life with the teen that he had met online.

A man from the UK has been found dead after allegedly being tied to a chair and injected with a lethal chemical.

Police were called to a rented apartment on July 27 after residents discovered his body in a ventilation shaft of a rented apartment. An autopsy later revealed that he had been killed by a chemical injection with officers considering the death as suspicious. According to the statements provided by suspects, Arpapay, who had met Ersen Basak on social media, had lived in England for many years. After returning to Türkiye, he told Basak that he supported himself with money sent by his family from England.

Reports have suggested that Percikli befriended Arpapay before starting a romantic relationship. On the day of the incident, Arpapay is known to have rented the apartment before Demir, Sariyildiz, and Erginoglu appeared at the residence.
