Britain's oldest serving PSCO who was still putting criminals behind bars at the age of 74 has sadly died.
But when she was forced to retire from that role 13 years later, she got a salaried role as a police community support officer . Liz continued to work as a PCSO, which involved dealing with domestic abuse incidents and guarding crime scenes in Bridlington, until her sad death this month. In 2019, Liz said that the job is her 'dream position' and she 'absolutely loves putting her uniform on. 'Liz, who was awarded an MBE in 2010 for her services, said: "This is the last job I'll ever have and it's turned out to be my dream position.
The Unison Humberside Police Staff Branch have paid tribute to Liz, describing her as someone who was 'widely known and respected across the community.' They tweeted: "We are sad to announce the passing of our branch member and oldest serving PCSO in the country, PCSO Liz Smith.
