Bride 'embarrassed' after mother-in-law turned up in 'same dress' as her on wedding day
A woman has spoken of her 'embarrassment' and 'hurt' at having her mother-in-law turn up to her wedding in a similar bridal gown. Sharing her story on a series of videos on TikTok, Jasmine Hopper said her special day was ruined by her groom's mother after she showed up in "practically" the same white dress.
Due to the video capturing the attention of millions of TikTok users, Jasmine was urged to provide an account of what happened on the day. While explaining all that went down on the social media platform, Jasmine said she was attended by her mother-in-law when going shopping for her wedding dress, opting in the end for a "mermaid-laced sequin-style" gown.
The bride says that during the day, she could remember people looking over and 'gossiping' as the mum and son danced. Jasmine says her sister even asked her if she could "go spill some wine on her" - but refused. “I was like ‘I don’t want to cause any more problems right now, this is my day.’ I had been looking forward to this for so fricking long and I wanted to feel good.”
The bride then went on to brand the event as “embarrassing”, saying: “It’s actually embarrassing, I can’t even put into words how embarrassed I am that my mother-in-law wore the same dress as me on my wedding day, it hurts my soul.” Two months later, the mother-in-law sent through a Christmas card to the newlyweds that had a picture of her in her dress on it. Jasmine added: “What are you apologising for if you were going to turn around and send out that Christmas card, like are you kidding me? This is what I was upset about.”
