The Queensland representative and NRL champion will head to Super League next year.
Leeds Rhinos and Catalans Dragons are set to battle it out for the services of NRL centre Brenko Lee. The 27-year-old has secured an immediate release from the Dolphins and will head to Super League next year.
Lee, 27, has made 13 appearances in the NRL this year, which has taken his total tally to 88, scoring 25 tries in the process. He has previously played for Canberra, Canterbury, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Brisbane. But he is now set to make the move to Super League, with the Rhinos and the Dragons the two clubs set to show interest. Catalans have been looking for a centre for months, with Adam Keighran heading to Wigan Warriors, while Nene Macdonald's extended leave from Headingley has left his future in doubt.
Lee's agent, Chris Orr, told the Courier Mail that the two clubs had shown interest. “We're currently talking to a number of clubs, including Catalans and Leeds, there's a bit of interest,” he said. “Brenko helped Wayne and the Dolphins kickstart their NRL campaign, but he now wants a different challenge in the Super League.”Lee is a former State of Origin representative, playing for Queensland, and has also represented Tonga.
“I have achieved a lot within the NRL,” Lee told the Courier Mail. “I won a grand final and State of Origin series along with being one of the inaugural Dolphins players, all of which I am proud of. I am looking for a new challenge and Super League is something I have always wanted to test myself in.”
