Brendan Fraser defends infamous Mummy Returns CGI of Dwayne Johnson's Scorpion King
It was 2001 and the star returned in the role of Rick O'Connell for the follow-up to. In the second half of the sequel, Dwayne Johnson's villainous Scorpion King – a half human, half scorpion hybrid – is finally unveiled as he attacks Rick inside a pyramid. Unfortunately, the underwhelming scene felt out of place within the context of the movie due to some interesting, very noticeable visual effects.
The actor, however, didn't mind and still thinks that scene ended up being a work of art in its own right. "Some of the charm of it now is… it could get remastered I guess, but it wouldn't be as fun if you didn't see this janky video game character of Dwayne," he added.
