Horrifying footage from an affluent area of the city show the brazen gang wielding a hammer in front of stunned onlookers
Shocked members of the public tried to stop a gang of masked thugs from trying to smash a lock off a motorbike in a wealthy part of the UK earlier this week. The incident happened in broad daylight on Monday, October 23, in Berkeley Square, Bristol, with the crime being filmed by several members of the public, BristolLive reports.
Another man also confronts the trio, all of whom are dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, with one of the gang threatening him with the hammer. Clearly stressed, one of the thieves defers lock-breaking duties to a fellow gang member, as another witness begins recording them and a woman continues to yell for the police.
Another witness can be heard, presumably speaking to the police on the phone, describing how the men are making their way down to Park Street from Berkeley Square. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We're aware of footage of an attempted theft of a motorbike in Berkeley Square, Clifton, Bristol, at approximately 3.45pm on Monday, October 23. This is a live investigation.
