Managers at the Countess of Chester Hospital took Letby's side over their consultants, according to an investigation

Hospital bosses wanted to find Lucy Letby a role at Alder Hey Children's Hospital despite doctors warning them she could be a killer, according to reports.

She was cleared of two counts of attempted murder and the jury were unable to reach verdicts on a further seven counts. The investigation was based on internal documents, including the result of a grievance case that Letby had lodged against the Countess of Chester trust in September 2016. It found that Letby wanted to know which allegations made against her were being investigated.

"The Neonatal Unit at Alder Hey is a specialist centre providing care to newborn babies who have had or will need surgery." Cheshire Police's Detective Superintendent Paul Hughes said: “This indictment, this trial, covers the period 2015 to 2016, we obviously are committed to a thorough investigation across the entire footprint Lucy Letby has been employed at the Countess of Chester Hospital and on placement at Liverpool Women's Hospital.
