Sajeeda Rose, who is Corporate Director for Growth and City Development at Nottingham City Council, has outlined how the UK's largest city centre redevelopment is moving forward at Broad Marsh
The leader of Broad Marsh's "pivotal" transformation has set out the next steps of the mammoth city centre project. , where the vacant Intu shopping centre was partially demolished in 2022 after the company entered administration two years earlier.
"If you look at all the improvements, not only by the city council, but by Nottingham College and all the planting there around it and the bus station, that has taken nearly 10 years - so it will take a while to complete everything. It has huge potential but it will take time and the Green Heart is a really exciting next step."
"The artist's impression is designed to simply make it look pretty, but when you look at the sightlines, the lighting and the CCTV and how greenery will be maintained, you can see how safety has been considered. We're continuing to engage with different groups to get different perspectives, including Nottingham Violence against Women and Girls, to ask them about the design and get their feedback - and they've largely welcomed the work towards making a safe environment.
"In the context of city regeneration it is our number one priority. I know it is very significant for the city in how it will support housing needs, jobs, and bringing footfall.
