The findings are likely to fuel concerns among Conservative MPs that the Prime Minister could cost their party the next election, due in 2024

A third of people not planning to vote Tory at the next election cite the Prime Minister as the reason, while 45 per cent of all Britons say Mr Johnson being leader makes the party less appealing, the BMG Research survey shows.

After winning a landslide in 2019 largely due to his own personal appeal, the Prime Minister now risks tarnishing the Tory brand.is a reason for them to vote Labour at the next election than those who say he is a turn-off. A total of 22 per cent blame rule-breaking by No 10 and Tory figures during the pandemic, while the same proportion said they were never likely to vote Conservative anyway.
