“It's the sort of thing I always wanted to see growing up.”
I think we understand that there's really no limit to who you can be – to what the world can look like. When it comes to life, I'm constantly thinking of ways in which we can make the world better. Trans people, especially trans youth, show everyone what life can look like beyond the strict, rigid boxes that we've tried to place everything in.
I've learned that I need to keep doing it because I have a unique and distinct voice that needs to continue to be used for a catalyst of healing. You really do. And it's wonderful to hear you owning that. What grabbed you about this story in particular?. It's about celebration. It's about joy and it's what we need. It's the energy we need in the world right now.magazine, where you said this is an “aspirational story”, but “we’re not necessarily here yet”, can you tell me more about that?
Well, we know what's happening to the trans community with legislation and laws. We see what's happening in the rollbacks of civil rights of people's personal freedoms and rights. We see what that is. And so this tale is about saying,. And holding our government officials accountable for their really partisan and unfortunate and fucked up ideas of what they think that they should be doing in this world, it's fucked up.
