Billy Brown reckons the new head coach has a self-imposed headache as he looks to turn round the Jambos' fortunes.

Hearts made a switch to redress the balance in the dug out this week. But it’s on the pitch that former Tynecastle number two Billy Brown reckons his old club hasn’t got the right harmony.

Brown - who along with Jim Jefferies handed Naismith his professional playing debut at Kilmarnock 20 seasons ago - said: “I was there on Sunday. If I was with Naisy just now I’d be saying the team hasn’t got the right balance. Especially in the middle of the park. “I think it’s overthought and that players can play more games if they are fit enough. The numbers are too high. In the middle when Baningime is fit they have him, Haring, Devlin, Halliday, Grant, Nieuwenhof, Lowry and the young lads that have come in too.

“But listen, this is a fantastic opportunity for Naisy to manage a club of stature in his first job. One thing for sure is that if he does fail it won’t be for a lack of effort, will, endeavour and belief. “Naisy still has the L plates on but he’s not stupid. He is a winner and anyone who plays for him must fall into that category too. He’ll be headstrong but is there anything else to be as a manager?”

He said: “When we first got Naisy he was barely 17. There was a boy there that was scared of nothing, up and at them, he worked hard in every session and game.“I’d reckon as a manager he’ll be the same. He’ll have his own ideas. Hearts is not an easy job for a young guy.
