Who knew they could last so long
Onions are a key ingredient in most recipes, but everyone seems to store them differently. Whether it be in a cupboard, in the fridge or in a bowl, but where is the best place to keep your onions without them going soft or mouldy?
Recipe developer, Sarah Jampel, added: “I keep mine in the cabinet with all of my baking dishes, but in the future, I aspire to buy crates’ worth and stow them in a garage or cellar. You also want to make sure they’re separated from potatoes - which are prone to rotting if kept nearby" reports The Daily Express.Shop Food Waste also suggested that people should remove onions from the plastic bag that they can be bought in.
A perforated basket or bin is also a great container for onions, but if you don’t have any of the above items to store onions, you can use an old pair of tights. You should the onions into one leg and tie a knot above it, then continue in the same way to the top until the leg of the tight is full.
