Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has said he will quit at the next Cabinet reshuffle, it has been reported. He has told the Sunday Times he would not stand at the next general election.
But he has ruled out leaving "prematurely," which would trigger a by-election. The announcement about Mr Wallace, who has been defence secretary for four years, comes days after speculation that he might be leaving the role. The BBC said that according to their sources, the next reshuffle is expected in September. The Wyre and Preston North, which is his constituency, is set to go under boundary changes. He told the newspaper he would not seek a new one.
