The 54-year-old victim was taken to hospital but passed away from his injuries a short time later

He was Tony Browne, a long-time resident of the Woodside Park area of Poleglass in the city.

Officers were also conducting door-to-door enquiries in the quiet cul-de-sac and the surrounding streets. “I am calling on people to avoid the area if they can and I urge anyone with information which might assist the investigation to bring it forward to the police. “We are sorry to hear that a man from Woodside in Poleglass has passed away as a result of a stabbing," the group posted.
