A West Belfast man has been jailed after throwing knives at his mother during a cocaine-fuelled attack.

Belfast Magistrates’ Court heard an argument broke out on October 16 when his mother asked the female accompanying him to leave their property. “He lifted two knives, throwing the first at the injured party but hitting the sofa, and throwing the second which also missed her as she ran upstairs,” a Crown lawyer said.

Defence barrister Sean O’Hare told the court his client wanted the case dealt with so he can obtain help for an addiction to drugs.
