Castle Place incident saw two men injured

A man was punched and kicked about the head in Belfast city centre until he became unconscious, the High Court heard today.

McCarthy, of no fixed abode, applied for bail on charges of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and common assault. Paramedics and police were alerted after CCTV operators observed the alleged attack. As police spoke to him at the scene he became unresponsive and had to be immediately taken to hospital.

Footage obtained from security cameras installed at local shops appeared to show McCarthy carrying out the assaults, according to the prosecutor.
