A fifth of the city's collection was missed last year
Belfast Council has announced details of its Christmas bin collection two and a half months before the holiday.
Councillors said that the angry response from residents was “mortifying,” while council worker’s morale was “at an all time low” from being “overworked and underpaid.” A review was set up to explore the failings over the seasonal period.This week, to shore up confidence with a show of extreme readiness, council officers at the Belfast City Council People and Communities Committee gave elected members details of the full Christmas season schedule of bin collection in the city.
“There are four bank holidays to cover over the Christmas period. We will put all this out in City Matters to give residents time to understand what is happening.” The officer told councillors: “We are trying to give people as much notice as possible, and we will be giving you updates as we do the countdown towards Christmas.
