'John Lennon picked me up and was ruffling my hair. I was only about two at the time but they were making me laugh.'

It is often said that you should never meet your idols, but a chance childhood encounter with John Lennon and Paul McCartney and Lennon's subsequent assassination led one Birkenhead man to follow in their footsteps - quite literally - by establishing a Beatles tribute act in the band's native Liverpool.

"My mum had her shopping on the pram and these two young guys were coming out with music equipment and bumped into the pram sending our shopping all over the ground. "Me and my brother Mike, who is the drummer in the band, realised that we could sing. We used to do harmonies and we loved The Beatles and so we got a few friends on board and that was how the band formed."
