Barry Humprhies, the comedian most famous for his Dame Edna Everage character, has died aged 89 .
His iconic Dame Edna persona won the hearts of millions around the world with her catchphrase “hello, possums” and her flamboyant glasses and dresses. Andrew Neil, the political television presenter, wrote: “So sad to learn Barry Humphries has passed away. When I visited him in his Sydney Hospital two weeks ago he was ailing from several health problems.
