Niall Barry was once 'very good' friends with Lee Harrison but they stopped speaking over stolen drugs
One of the men accused of murdering Ashley Dale was once "very good" friends with her boyfriend Lee Harrison, a jury has heard.
Mr Reiz, who is representing Barry, asked him: "Did you ever agree to anyone to murder Lee Harrison?" Barry replied: "I’ve never ever agreed anyone to murder Lee Harrison. I’ve never had a fight with him, I’ve never looked sideways at him. My problems with him was four years before him. I’m not saying I’m some big hard case but he’s half the size of me, I wouldn’t need a gun to have a fight with him.
However, he "cut ties" with Harrison in 2018 due to an incident when he had drugs stolen from him. He told the court: "He was hanging around with the people who had robbed me drugs. He didn’t rob me. He was just around the people who did." Barry added: "I was angry. I’d been working with him for about two years. If the shoe was on the other foot, I’d be with him. I didn’t think it was right. I was just p***** off with him to be honest.
Barry added that Harrison had mentioned his name in connection with "drugs that had gone missing", and said: "Lee said to James I had something to do with money getting picked up off someone. It was a load of lies."
