Currently, supermarkets in the UK are facing problems sourcing certain products that are grown in Europe and Africa
Asda has announced it will introduce limits on how many of a certain fruit and vegetable that shoppers can buy in store to tackle stock shortages.
As a result, supermarket shelves have been hit hard with shortages of tomatoes in particular. Now, experts have warned that this could last "weeks" and affect other produce as well. An Asda spokesman said: "Like other supermarkets, we are experiencing sourcing challenges on some products that are grown in southern Spain and north Africa.
Top Trending Stories Today Andrew Opie, director of food and sustainability at the British Retail Consortium, which represents UK supermarkets, said: "Difficult weather conditions in the south of Europe and northern Africa have disrupted harvest for some fruit and vegetables including tomatoes and peppers.
