ARSENAL PLAYED superb attacking football to win 4-2 in their first Premier League home fixture...

Thomas Partey almost put Gabriel Jesus through on goal in the opening ten minutes. He was to miss a half chance from a header off a corner and Granit Xhaka hit the post on twenty minutes after a superb curling cross from Bukayo Saka. With minimal back-lift and hardly any space or time, he expertly chipped keeper Danny Ward whose outstretched arm could not prevent the ball hitting the side netting. This tremendous piece of individual brilliance instantly got the home supporters on their feet.

The Gunners’ hadn’t won their opening two fixtures without conceding since 1971-72, and Leicester were handed a lifeline at the beginning of the second half when William Saliba headed the ball past a hapless Ramsdale into his own net. Prior to this game, Leicester no.10 James Maddison had scored four goals and four assists in his past five league games, and added to that tally on 74 minutes when he dribbled well in the box and battled past Oleksandr Zinchenko – who played with passion and fire throughout the game – and fired a low shot through the legs of Ramsdale.Jesus rolled the ball to Gabriel Martinelli who teed up and expertly guided his shot into the bottom right corner.
