The PSNI was called to an address in Downpatrick, Co Down

A man has been arrested as police investigate the report of an "attempted sexual communication with a child".

PSNI officers were called to an address in the Downpatrick area, on Thursday, August 17. In a statement to Belfast Live, a spokesperson confirmed that a man, aged in his 20s, was subsequently arrested. The statement read: "Police, conducting an investigation into attempted sexual communication with a child, have arrested a man, aged in his 20s."He was arrested after officers were called to an address in the Downpatrick area on Thursday evening, 17th August.
