The protest has since sparked a nationwide outcry

Campaigners say a young woman has been arrested two days after pouring human faeces and urine over a Captain Sir Tom Moore statue as part of a protest. The incident caused headlines across the UK after happening in a South Derbyshire village. Maddie Budd, a 21-year-old Welsh woman, travelled to Hatton to perform her unconventional dirty protest on Friday, September 30.

They believed her to have been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage. Derbyshire Live understands that Miss Budd is now in custody. He was knighted by Her Majesty the Queen at Windsor Castle in July 2020 and he received over 150,000 cards on the occasion of his 100th birthday. Captain Sir Tom Moore died on February 2, 2021, at Bedford Hospital.

Speaking about her protest on Friday, Miss Budd, who is a former medical student, said: "People are going to say that he's a hero, people are going to say that this is profoundly, obscenely disrespectful to his life, and to the NHS he stood up for and I agree.
