Officers were called to Prestwich in the early hours

A gang of men launched a violent attack and robbed an Audi during a shocking incident which left one victim in hospital. Police were called to reports that a group of men had attacked other men, who had been in a grey Audi A3.

They were attacked with weapons, at about 4.20am in Prestwich, Bury. One man in his 20s had to be rushed to hospital for treatment following the incident, which happened near Heaton Street and Recreation Street, close to Heaton Park. He has since been discharged, Greater Manchester Police said. The car has since been located and recovered, and the force is now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.Detective Sergeant Carolyn Morley, of Bury police, said: "This was a violent attack and I want to assure the local community that GMP takes incidents of this nature very seriously and is following up multiple lines of inquiry.
