Armed police from other UK forces will support the Metropolitan Police after a number officers stood down from firearms duties over a colleague’s murder charge. More than 100 police officers have stepped back from firearms duties following a murder charge over the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Chris Kaba, who died in September last year in Streatham Hill, south London.
The army is on standby to cover for armed police after the officers handed in their firearms permits to protest for more legal protections.
