A variety of toys will be purchased this week and will be distributed to vital charities across the city, ahead of the big day.All toys will then make their way to parents to put under the Christmas tree for vulnerable children, who may have otherwise woken up to nothing on December 25.

Last year, our toy campaign brought in around £15,000 and delivered around 100,000 gifts to less fortunate kids across the city.So far, more than £500 has been raised.In 2021, toys were distributed to Refuweegee, which helps refugees settling in Glasgow, the Ms Miss Mrs social enterprise, which provides support for women and their families experiencing trauma, and Hillington, Riverside and Parkview Primary.

Smiley Stars Nursery and Glasgow’s Spirit of Christmas also benefitted from bags of toys, as well as West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare, Spirit Aid, The GK Experience, Baby Bank , Home Start Glasgow South, 3D Drumchapel, Salvation Army, and Glasgow’s No1 Baby and Family Support Service.Stacey Mullen, the editor of the Glasgow Times, said: “With less than a week to Christmas, we are appealing for last-minute donations to our toy drive fund.

"We believe no child in this city should wake up without a gift this Christmas and although times are tough during this cost-of-living crisis, we are hugely appreciative of the generosity from readers so far."To donate towards the toy drive, click
