Council leaders say they were given 'almost no notice'
Leaders at Chorley Borough Council reacted with anger at being given almost no notice of Home Office plans to use a hotel to house people awaiting asylum decisions.
Leaders at Chorley Borough Council were left irate at the lack of communication and believe that people were moved into the hotel just hours after the local authority was informed last Friday . The council's leader hit out at the Home Office over its "completely unacceptable" handling of the process.
"The situation is completely unacceptable and should have been done with proper planning and communication, so we are raising this at the highest level in Government so we can get some answers. We appreciate that Chorley residents may have comments on this situation, which we can feedback to the government via the Home Office.”
