EXCLUSIVE: Andy Burnham has said he was willing to meet the Scottish Government to share expertise on bringing buses under local control.

A Labour mayor has offered to advise Humza Yousaf on bringing Scotand’s privately-run bus system into public control.

In launching the “Bee Network”, Burnham began the process of reversing the deregulation of buses during the Thatcher era. Private operators dominate the market in Scotland, but complaints have been raised about price and reliability.The bus industry received £329 million in funding from local or central government in the same year.Scottish politics The SNP Government has been under pressure for years to reverse the Thatcher reforms, but Ministers have resisted public ownership.

Fifty new electric buses kickstarted the service and hundreds will be rolled out over the next few years.
