Fernando Alonso is confident that Aston Martin are ahead of schedule in their bid to become Championship contenders in Formula One.
Aston Martin have claimed 65 points so far this season in the opening three races. Alonso in particular, has secured a podium finish in every race so far. The team have come on leaps and bounds with their development since 2022. Last season they were only able to finish in seventh place in the standings with 55 points.
The team’s owner Lawrence Stroll has stated previously that Aston Martin are three to five years away from competing for the top prize in F1. However, Alonso believes that the team in green are on track to become Championship contenders a year earlier than they originally expected.
