in Scotland every year can be linked directly to poverty, according to a landmark report published on Monday.
It said the research provided the first “comprehensive picture of deprivation and cancer” in Scotland, describing the inequalities uncovered as “unacceptable”., accounting for almost one in five cases. The research found that people in deprived areas are more likely to smoke and also be overweight or obese, the second-biggest risk factor.
