The news of the UK-wide closures means that 9,100 jobs will be lost across hundreds of shops.
It has been confirmed that all Wilko shops will have closed their doors by next month, resulting in the loss of a further nine thousand jobs.
Staff at 124 stores have been informed that those sites will close on or before Thursday September 21. Mr Putman had been speaking to the administrators over a deal which could see him take over about 200 shops. But it appeared that no agreement could be reached. "We continue to work with potential buyers for different parts of the business and are confident of completing transactions in the coming days."
