The official summer bank holiday falls on Monday, August 28, for people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, which means payments due on that date from the Department for Work and Pensions or HM Revenue and Customs will be made early. Payments of State Pension, Universal Credit, Child Benefit, Personal Independence Payment , Attendance Allowance, Tax Credits and other benefits due to arrive on Monday, August 28 will be paid on Friday, August 25.
HMRC announced changes to payment dates earlier this month and DWP has now confirmed similar arrangements, reports the Daily Record. It said: “On Monday 28 August offices and phone lines are closed. To make sure people get their payment on a day when Jobcentre Plus offices are open, some payments will be paid early.”
It added: “To align with the bank holiday in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, DWP offices and phone lines in Scotland will also be closed on Monday, August 28.
