We love Ant and Dec, but it should have been Alison's name that was called 🏆 The This Morning host actually thought she'd won the best TV presenter award, thinking she heard her name being read out instead of Ant and Dec.
Stephen even brought out a pre-etched plaque of his own name to stick over Ant and Dec’s on the award statue, leaving the crowd in stitches.
Recalling the moment, Alison hilariously admitted on This Morning today that she misheard the winners’ names, and Dermot O’Leary had to clarify that she hadn’t actually won. ‘You sat next to me all of last night and you just made me laugh throughout the whole show,’ Alison told Dermot, continuing: ‘But the funniest moment was obviously, I was up for an award, and I heard Ant & Dec being called, but I heard Alison!’Alison missed out on the win! Alison added: ‘In my head, I heard Alison, so then I reached across to Dermot and I said, “How did they say Alison?”‘It was so shameful, so embarrassing,’ she said, before bursting into laughter.
Others nominated in the category were Graham Norton and Bradley Walsh, who also missed out on a landmark win.She addressed losing out on the best presenter award when This Morning won best daytime show, telling the audience: ‘Can I just say we are all so grateful for this award, honestly. I think This Morning is a mood, I ain’t gonna lie.‘Now we all know… I should have won one of these as well!
Elsewhere on This Morning, Alison admitted that she felt like a ‘fraud’ even being nominated, having previouslyLast week, Alison explained that she’s a ‘girl off a council estate and is ‘doing it for the everyday people who didn’t think they were good enough.’
