The Colombian forward reckons he has European pedigree to bring to Santos.
But the bullish former Ibrox forward, who took his time in getting a new club after leaving Glasgow following a six year spell in May, is getting out his European pedigree to show what he can do in front of goal. Morelos became the Light Blues record scorer on the continent despite his last hurrah under Michael Beale seeing him take an understudy role, with his fitness and attitude previously coming under fire.
Morelos' move to reunite with Ryan Kent at Fenerbahce fell through, before Santos in Brazil came calling for the Colombian. At his official unveiling at the club, the 27-year-old revealed that his 'complicated' injury that saw Morelos miss parts of the season meant he didn't compete in what he called marquee games. But the hitman wasn't about to shy away from his track record in Light Blue and wants the Brazilian outfit to get out of their slump.
On Rangers, he said: "Obviously, there wasn't a lot of game time at Rangers last season due to a very complicated injury, but I accepted things as they were. It was a still a season of scoring twelve goals, obviously I didn't play most of the main matches. But it was a very nice feeling to play in Europe, in the Europa League and the Champions League. I have done important things in European football in my short career.
"I'm going to carry that experience with me to Santos, what I want is to bring it to the institution of this club, a very big one, with this vision and this desire. It's my job and this is the mentality I have at Santos to get ahead of this bad situation we are going through."
