Akbar's is set to open a brand new restaurant at the former EastzEast site in Blackburn's £50m Cultural Quarter

The legal documents have been signed and the interior designers are at work to turn a flagship Blackburn town centre venue into the latest premises for a fast-growing Indian restaurant chain.

Cllr Quesir Mahmood, Blackburn with Darwen Council’s growth boss, said: "There’s a huge sense of momentum building around the Blackburn Cultural Quarter. Our officers have been working really hard to secure the right tenants and it’s fantastic to now have the lease signed for Akbar’s and work already starting on the building.

Cllr Mahmood’s Conservative counterpart Cllr Paul Marrow said: "I hope that this new restaurant is a success and can help Blackburn town centre’s nightlife to recover. EastzEast has been a long saga and we need to turn the page on it.
