One passenger claimed that the plane was stood on the runway for four hours
Passengers on an East Midlands Airport flight were forced to wait on the runway for hours so police could remove a "disruptive passenger." Several police vehicles and officers were seen surrounding a Jet2 flight on the runway at East Midlands Airport on Monday evening .
Reports suggest police were still surrounding the plane at around 7.30pm, with one passenger claiming online that the flight had been grounded for around four hours. A spokesperson for Jet2 confirmed that the flight had been delayed in its take-off for the Turkish city of Antalya.A Jet2 spokesperson said: "We can confirm that flight LS653 from East Midlands to Antalya returned to stand earlier this evening so police could offload a disruptive passenger.
Pictures from one passenger onboard the affected flight show officers surrounding the plane accompanied by sniffer dogs. The FlightRadar24 website shows that flight LS653 had a scheduled take-off of 4.45pm, but eventually left the East Midlands at 8.18pm. Rather than the scheduled 11.10pm, this means passengers are now set to arrive in Turkey at 2.02am.
