Adam Johnson died following a collision in the game between Sheffield Steelers and Nottingham Panthers last weekend
The inquest into the death of ice hockey star Adam Johnson is opening this morning . Nottingham Panthers' Johnson, 29, suffered a serious cut to his neck caused by an opponent player's skate during the 35th minute of the Challenge Cup game between the Sheffield Steelers and the Panthers.confirmed he had died in a statement released on Sunday . The stadium was evacuated as medics tended to Johnson on the ice. He was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The decision has been taken as Mrs Rawden's investigation into Johnson’s death is ongoing. If her investigation is completed before that time, a new date will be communicated.The inquest opening has heard that on October 28, Johnson was playing ice hockey for the Nottingham Panthers at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield. He was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield where he died later that day.
