A total of 14 of Scotland's 32 councils have so far backed our calls to outlaw polluting single-use vapes
Aberdeen and Edinburgh have become the latest cities to back the Record’s campaign to outlaw polluting disposable vapes.
A staggering 1.3million disposable e-cigs are chucked away every week in the UK - wasting materials like plastic, copper and precious lithium batteries. And yesterday, councillors in Aberdeen joined them, approving a motion that highlighted the “adverse environmental effects of single-use vapes which cause considerable levels of additional litter on our streets and in other public places”.
She told the Record: “It's absolutely amazing to see Aberdeen join the other 13 councils in Scotland supporting a ban on disposable vapes.“We now have the four biggest cities in Scotland supporting a ban - Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, and Aberdeen.” Ms Young added: “If all goes well [this week], with other councils lined up to speak about this issue, we would have over half of Scottish councils represented as we await the urgent Scottish review.
