The 78 Lancashire neighbourhoods where Covid-19 cases are rising
There are 78 neighbourhoods in Lancashire where Covid-19 cases are rising. This figure has increased from just 73 one week ago.
In the seven-day period ending October 8, there were seven places where the virus rates were above 200 cases per 100,000 people. The area with the highest rate in the country was Clayton-le-Woods at 285.8.This was followed by Leyland South East & Buckshaw Village with 265.6 and then Penwortham South at 252.1. Brindle & Withnell, Little Marton & Marton Moss Side, Churchtown and Barrowford, Higham & Pendleside then followed - all with rates higher than 200.
There has also been “another notable rise” in infections among older age groups who are seeing the highest rates of admission to hospital. “We have also seen another notable rise in infections amongst older age groups in England and Wales, underlining once again the need for close monitoring as we move through the colder months.”
