Fight broke out on Main Street just before 2 a.m.; police pulled over fleeing red Toyota and arrested 6 people
- Six people were in court Monday, charged in a New Year's Day street brawl that ended with shots being fired.A New Year’s brawl landed six people in a Worcester, Mass. courtroom Wednesday; 24-year-old Carlos Sanchez was among those arraigned in Worcester District Court. He faces multiple charges after firing a hand gun during the fight in downtown Worcester.
“Sanchez stated he was involved in the altercation using a handgun and said it did go off during the fight,” says assistant district attorney Tim Westerman. According to police, the fight broke out in front of a Main Street business just before 2 a.m. early New Year’s Day. Witnesses say Sanchez fired multiple shots before fleeing in a red Toyota. Police pulled the car over on Main Street soon after, arresting Sanchez and five passengers.
“A search of the vehicle showed 26 rounds of ammunition, shot gun ammunition, a large bag of marijuana and a bag of mushrooms,” says Westerman.
