On November 25, 1963, Robert Jette and Silvio Annunziata were at John F Kennedy’s funeral in Washington, D.C.
Shown here a couple of months after the funeral, Annunziata guarded JFK's gravesite.
“What we were doing was basically crowd control, answering questions and made sure nobody tried to take anything.” Worcester native Jette was also a young man when JFK was assassinated. He drove down to the nation’s capital to watch the funeral. He remembers the sadness after the procession went by.Jette wonders what the country would've been like if JFK survived a second term as president.
“JFK was a visionary. He said that he was going to make changes and he was the kind of a man who you believed was gonna make profound changes.”But every November, Annunziata is reminded of the day he watched the funeral process right in front of him. He says the memory feels as real as it did 50 years ago.
