Millions of people across England set to save money on bus travel with the introduction of a £2 cap on fares for more than 4,600 routes. Millions of people across England will be able to save money on bus travel from today with the introduction of a £2 price cap on more than 4,600 routes as part of £60 million government scheme.a cap has been placed on single bus fares with more than 130 operators outside of London from New Year’s Day until the end of March.
“That’s why we’re investing £60 million to encourage everyone to hop on the bus and ‘Get Around for £2’.” A report published in July by the pressure group Campaign for Better Transport highlighted how funding pressures have led to more than a quarter of English bus services being axed in a decade.
