As children across Glasgow wave farewell to the summer holidays and head back to school, we take a walk down memory lane and reminisce about school days gone by.

This time of year reminds many of us how much has changed since we walked the school corridors - but some traditions still continue among younger generations. Even if your memory is a bit hazy, one thing we can all remember is the routine of singing hymns in assembly.

Memorable lyrics include: "He's got my brothers and my sisters in his hands," and "He's got the rivers and the mountains in his hands, he's got the oceans and the seas in his hands." Lord of the Dance One of the catchiest ones on this list, Lord of the Dance was so popular it went on to be the name of Riverdance star Michael Flatley's globally popular show.

One More Step Along The World I Go This one doesn't need much introduction, except the line: "And it's from the old I travel to the new, keep me travelling along with you." Slowly building through the verse it bursts into: "Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father's glory. Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire," and all of a sudden we're back at school again!

Who Put The Colours in The Rainbow? And as we all know, the song's title is one of a whole host of questions posed in its lyrics - who put the cold in the snowflake? who made hogs and dogs and fogs? who made bats and rats and cats? being some of the others.
